The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and Chinese Consulates-General in New Zealand will implement China online visa application form and appointment for visa application submission. With effect from 1 August 2020, visa applicants are requested to complete visa application form online and to make an appointment online for visa submission in person to the visa offices. Please read the following details:

1. The transition period is between 1 August 2020 to 30 August 2020. Applications can still be made through paper-based China visa application form (V.2013). Starting from 31 August, applicants must complete their visa application form online and print the auto-generated application form. The Chinese diplomatic missions in New Zealand will no longer accept visa applications made through the previous visa application form.

2. Applicants have the option of getting their visa applications submitted through a representative, or via post or courier service. From 1 August, for applicants who have completed their online applications and wish to submit their application in person to the visa offices, prior appointment for visa application submission is mandatory.

3. Holders of diplomatic and official passport, or members of government delegation, or applications for diplomatic, official and courtesy visa are exempted from making an appointment for visa application submission. Visa applications can be submitted to the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in New Zealand but are still requested to complete visa application form online and print the auto-generated application form.

4. The Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in New Zealand are still processing visa applications accordingly to the Announcement of Temporary Suspension of Entry for Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the National Immigration Administration on 26 March 2020. The current procedures of visa applications and eligibility criteria remain unchanged until further notice.
