Spokesman Sun Yuxi on Taiwan's UN Bid Failure
2003-11-19 00:00

On September 7, 2000, the United Nations General Committee turned down the draft resolution tabled by a small number of countries on the so-called "Taiwan 's participation in the United Nations" at the 55th session of the General Assembly. This fully testifies to the solemn position of the majority UN member countries of safeguarding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, upholding Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly and adhering to the "One China" principle. Facts have proven once again that no matter what new ploys the Taiwan authorities come up with, its splittist attempts of creating "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan" are futile and unpopular, and therefore doomed to failure.
